Vindictive, arbitrary, good friends with a couple of attorneys so gave them several bites at the apple to make sure they got more than they should have regarding attorney's fees. Anti-military - the people that keep him safe.

Somewhat short tempered and definitely not hesitant to express his opinions. But a tough and fair individual who appears to have a softer, thoughtful side, especially toward those caught up in the criminal justice system.

He may have been good a long time ago, but he is a nightmare now.

Not a good judge. Cranky and a generally unpleasant person to be around. Shows no respect for the individuals who appear in his courtroom, cracks jokes at the expense of counsel and witnesses for laughs from the gallery, and should not be on the bench. Avoid if possible.

This guy favors the government [redacted by Ed.] He's a bit of a hot head but not too bad. The short of it is that the whole legal system is crooked and I hope I never have to be involved with it again.

A great judge, who speaks his mind, and calls them as he sees them. A little conservative, but fair, and can be outraged by abuse of power.

I had cases against Judge Schubb before his appointmenr to the bench and he was a well prepared and very professional lawyer. He is the same as a judge. Very smart, very well prpared, very good scholar and writer. Sometime gets a little out of hand when he gets mad, but is know to quickly come back to center. Took senior status and is missed.

Completely incompetent. Probably the worst judge in the Eastern District. Terrified of the Ninth Circuit and unable to rule on simple legal issues. An embarassment to the bench.

Sometimes combative and ill tempered towards counsel. The staff will warn you to duck.

As a Juror in a recent case in his court it was a very pleasant experience. He controls the court room very well. Quick to jump on attorneys for wasting time or impeaching a witness for minor discrepancies!

Judge Shubb is decisive and does not tolerate incompetence or imprecision. Great judge if you've got a winning case.
