Exceptionally unflexible in changing scheduling orders, even with good cause. Robot application of the rules. Poor temperament and poor judgment combined with shoot from the hip prejudgment.

His temperament is something that many judges are lacking. It's always a pleasant experience to have a case with Judge Gallo. He treats you like a normal person, not like you are a hated lawyer. You can't go wrong having him as a judge.

This judge is very industrious and listens thoroughly to all parties. In coordinating an MSC between multiple lawyers, he was willing to begin the conference at 6am to accomodate everyone's schedule and skipped lunch to help reach settlement. He is extremely punctual, probably due to his military background. He and/or his clerks seem to be in chambers from 6:30am till at least 5:30pm most days. He is also strict about discovery and discovery deadlines. He is disinclined to bifurcate discovery timelines. He explains processes (E&Es and MSCs) to clients at length which can be duplicative if you've already told them the purpose and expectations.

This judge is by far one of the smartest and most committed judges. We had a settlement conference - it was clear he was willing to do anything he could to facilitate our settlement. He was willing to stay very late into the evening to settle the case and also offered to meet us at 6 a.m. the next morning, if it would help. His discovery rulings are thorough, well reasoned and fair too. He has a very good grasp on civil discovery.

This judge is very cordial and earnest, but completely lost in civil matters. He does not understand the basics of civil discovery. In addition, his career clerk is also hopeless on these matters, which compounds the problem.
